Coaches
Georgia Mahoney
Hi everyone, I am Georgia.
Imagine being a primary school student who always looks forward to the day every week when Bluearth would come and visit you, there would be games and laughter and I would be thinking to myself “gee wouldn’t that be amazing to do Bluearth every day! How cool”.
So many years later I was given the opportunity as a year 11 SEDA College student to have placement with Matt Dillon who happened to be the regional coordinator at the Bluearth foundation, which kick started my journey into the world of Bluearth.
In the years leading up to today, I have been involved with practical learning opportunities around the community of Wangaratta and Melbourne area, including NetSetGo, Primary School clinics with Melbourne Victory, and running a Children’s program for a local CrossFit gym. I studied Certificate 3/4 in Fitness and a Diploma of Sport Development. All this experience provided me with an opportunity to join as a casual coach with Bluearth for term 4 2020.
When coaching with Bluearth, I love seeing the smiling faces on students involved as we explore the many varied activities and movements in the Program.
Teigan Pearson
Physical Activity Project Officer
Hi everyone, my name is Teigan and I am the new Bluearth coach for Albury/Wodonga. I live in Albury and have worked in the Fitness industry and the Early Childhood sector before joining the Bluearth team.
I have two girls aged 6 and 8, and you can usually find us out hiking or exploring new areas most weekends. I really enjoy yoga, resistance training and hiking, this is what keeps me moving on a daily basis in between getting out with my family and playing with my dogs.
I was drawn to join the Bluearth team because the fundamental values align with my own. I believe it is so important for us to embed healthy lifestyles into young people, so we as a society can start looking at preventative measures for mental and physical health, rather than treatments after the issue has occurred.
With two parents usually working, the constant evolving of technology that has taken over our lives, and now Covd-19, it is more crucial than ever that we start getting serious about physical and mental health for everyone.
I have really enjoyed getting some experience with other coaches at Bluearth and I can see the standard Bluearth coaches work at. I was amazed to watch the way the sessions unfolded and see the positive effect these coaches had on the students and the teachers alike. It has been great to get out on my own and start building connections with teachers and their students, and I am looking forward to facilitating more exposure for Bluearth around the Albury/Wodonga region.
Head Office
Alice Burgin
Project Officer
Hello, my name is Alice Burgin. I was initially attracted to Bluearth because its mission and values resonate with me so much.
I have an academic background in physical activity and health, having recently completed a PhD in this area from the University of Worcester in the UK.
I am excited to be in my new role as a Project Officer at Bluearth and looking forward to advocate and drive for change in physical activity and health across communities.
Physical activity has been such a big part of my life for as long as I can remember and has shaped the person I am today. I am a keen runner and love exploring the trails and sights that Melbourne has to offer on foot. I want to help more people reap the amazing benefits that regular physical activity can bring and ultimately create healthier and happier communities.
Tracey Smyth
Relationships Manager
Hi, I’m Tracey.
I am a Melbourne girl who loves to travel – my last adventure was 2 years ago when I went on safari in Malawi and Zambia with my family.
I love cooking, reading and podcasts, and I especially love hanging out with my kids – Hugo and Chloe, and my friends.
I can ski (although haven’t done that for a while), I play golf (not as much as I used to), I swim with a squad, and I enjoy bike riding along the Bayside beach paths.
My career background is the events industry working on major events and bespoke parties. I most admire humour, integrity and kindness in people.
I was initially attracted to Bluearth because being physically active every day is how I live my life. Therefore the ethos of Bluearth resonated with me. When I first spoke with Mal, Simon and Peter, I could hear their passion and dedication to ensure all Australians move well with joy and freedom. And I just thought, ‘Geez, I want to be a part of that!’
