Meet & Move

Fitness for You, Play for Your Child

Meet & Move is an ACT-based program which combines the social and play elements of a playgroup with movement for mums. Created in response to feedback from parents, Meet & Move helps you to increase your family’s physical activity together.

To help improve your family’s health and wellbeing, the Meet & Move program delivers 4 free physical activity sessions each week and several ‘Grab n Go – Healthy Eating for Active Kids’ workshops each year.

We understand that raising kids requires flexibility. There’s no need to book or attend every week. We welcome all mums with children aged birth to 5 years, and all fitness levels.

What happens at a Meet & Move session?

All sessions are held outdoors, but each session is different. Most include a pram-friendly, baby-wearing friendly walk and playground play for the kids. Many of our walks are also suitable for kids on bikes and scooters.

We also include fun, simple games to engage parents and their kids in activities which develop skills such as running, kicking, balancing and throwing, and exploration of the outdoor environment. Our main focus is to make movement fun!

During April – October we run Bubs in the Bush aimed specifically at baby-wearing mums who wish to bushwalk with a group, and Urban Explorers.

How does moving more help you?

Increasing your physical activity and getting outdoors helps you to:

  • feel good and boosts your mood
  • better manage stress and reduces anxiety
  • increase your muscle strength and flexibility
  • stay healthy as you age
How does moving more help your child?

Providing your child with plenty of opportunities to play actively each day helps to:

  • build their movement skills such as running, jumping, climbing and throwing
  • increase their strength, self-confidence and coordination
  • increase their resilience

Meet & Move sessions allow kids to enjoy exploratory movement which develops healthier social, cognitive and emotional skills. By holding our sessions outdoors, kids have more chances to move, explore and discover different environments.

Thanks for organising such a great activity. I have really enjoyed getting out and exercising with other mums, and the walks have been really thoughtfully planned to keep the toddler very happy and burn off some energy.

Amanda, mum of 2
