Sarah Argus is Bluearth’s Regional Project Officer for Wagga Wagga and Riverina.
We asked her a handful of questions about her role, background, and fun facts, so you can get to know her a bit better.
Check out her answers below.
What is your role and what does it involve?
I am a Regional Project Officer in the Wagga Wagga and Riverina Area. I am coming into my fourth year with the Bluearth Foundation.
I am lucky enough to be on the ground coaching in schools with students, teachers and principals whilst also building relationships with new schools.
My role allows me to travel to schools in my area and coach our Active Schools Program to students and upskill their teachers to become Bluearth accredited.
What do you love about your role and working for Bluearth?
I love that I have the opportunity to share our amazing program with so many people and see first-hand the positive impact that we have.
Working for Bluearth puts me and all my team in an important position to lead the change for our younger generation; this is something I take with me into every school I visit.
Can you tell us a bit about your background/training and how you started your journey at Bluearth?
I am very lucky to have been brought up with being healthy and active as part of my life. Living in a smaller town where sport plays a huge part in everyone’s weekend meant I was given the chance to try a range of different sports.
At the very young age of 6 I started Taekwon-Do with my Dad as my coach; this sport took me around the world. I represented Australia six times with my first World Championships at 13 years old.
Once I finished my martial arts career I went to university to study Event & Sport Management in Sydney. When I completed my degree I moved back home to Wagga Wagga and continued my active lifestyle and became a fitness instructor and personal trainer. During this time I stumbled across Bluearth as they were looking for a new coach in Wagga.
I always knew that I would have a job in sport or some sort of movement based role; with sport playing such a huge part of my life growing up I wanted to be able to give that back in some way.
Fun Facts
- Favourite Movie: Can’t say I have one favourite movie because I like such a range of different movies. I’m all for a good rom com but also give me a Marvel marathon any day.
- Favourite Flower: I can’t say I have one particular favourite flower, I love an arrangement that is bright and full of colour and greenery.
- Best piece of advice you’ve been given: You can’t control yesterday or tomorrow so why worry about something that is out of your hands.
There are only 2 days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called yesterday the other is called tomorrow so today is the right day to love, believe, do and mostly live.
