Ryan Stone is Bluearth’s Sport and Recreation Officer.
So you can get to know him a bit better, we asked him a handful of questions about his role, background, and fun facts.
Read on to check out his answers.
Your role, what does it involve?
I am a coach located in metro Melbourne working mostly in primary schools and some specialty schools.
What do you love most about your role?
As a coach, I think we’re privileged with the opportunity to share the gift of movement each and every day. We can have a big impact on someone’s day and the afterglow of a session can have a tremendously positive ripple effect throughout the school. I love that we are well rounded as coaches, and the fact that our approach not only develops students and those we connect with in the physical sense, but on a social and emotional level also. Movement is so much more than fitness!
Background / Training
I grew up in Wangaratta, a prominent region in the north east for Bluearth. I moved to Melbourne nine years ago to study exercise science and physical education. An opportunity opened up for me with Bluearth when another coach took maternity leave (thanks Keegs 😊 ) and I haven’t looked back.
A bit more about me:
- Favourite book: The Resilience Project
- Favourite weather: Hard to beat a sunny day in spring when it’s 20-25 degrees
- Hobbies: Footy keeps me sore in winter, novice attempts at surfing keeps me honest in summer.
