Georgia Mahoney is a Bluearth Coach.
We asked her a handful of questions about her role and background, as well as some fun facts, so you can get to know her.
See what she had to say below.
What is your role and what does it involve?
I’m Georgia and I am a Bluearth Coach, working across 15 primary schools in NE Victoria & Southern New South Wales. It is a very diverse mix of schools, with students of all different ages, personalities and skill levels. I work with the educators to conduct mindful movement sessions that allow students to explore their own abilities and help them to build an understanding of themselves, as they learn how to bring attention to their breathing, their minds and bodies, and awareness and appreciation of others around them.
What do you love about your role and working for Bluearth?
I love the foundations of Bluearth, where it started and how it has evolved, and how the approach can flow into people’s everyday activities. Creating positive connections with children of today’s society and building great relationships with teachers, working together with the students’ best interests at heart.
Can you tell us a bit about your background/training and how you started?
I started my journey with Bluearth back in 2006, when I experienced the program at my primary school in Wangaratta. I had the opportunity to participate in Bluearth sessions for seven years as a student, and then completed a year of work placement with Bluearth in 2017. I also knew I wanted to explore working in the fitness industry when I finished school, and in 2019 I dived into the world of CrossFit/Personal Training, building my experience and skillset. In 2020, I started as a Bluearth Coach, and I have developed and learned so much about the Bluearth Approach since. I have seen my hopes come to life, as I now have the privilege to lead others the way that Bluearth coaches led me as a student.
Fun Fact
I am indeed a morning person if that involves a lactose free latte with 2 extra shots. I can’t coach my best unless my runners are clean otherwise, I’ll be in a grumpy mood all day (sorry kids), and I am a sucker for watching endless replays of the CrossFit Games.
