Teigan Pearson is a Bluearth affiliate delivering the Bluearth approach to primary schools across the Albury/Wodonga region and smaller surrounding towns, under Purple Lotus Consulting.
This is her story about becoming a part of Bluearth and what her role involves.
Tell us a bit about your business
My business is Purple Lotus Consulting. The Lotus Flower symbolises the natural phenomenon of a pure lotus rising from within murky waters and sustaining its beauty regardless of the surroundings. The meaning of a purple lotus in particular symbolises self-awakening, as well as balance between different parts of ourselves. This inspired me to create my business name around that after experiences I had earlier in my life.
Do you have an area you specialise in? Tell us about a particular focus you’re passionate about.
At this point in time, I deliver the Bluearth Active Schools Approach to local primary schools. The business is progressing to working in a trauma informed approach – particularly with domestic violence victims. This is unfortunately an epidemic in Australia and as case numbers continue to grow and support systems buckle under the load, we must support victims to become empowered and confident to heal and grow from their challenges.
Using movement as a vehicle to find joy, create stillness in the body and reset the nervous system is something that is fundamental to the foundations of health and wellbeing. People connect through movement, so being able to find healthy and safe connections for people is very important.
Can you tell us a bit about your background/training and how you started your journey at Bluearth?
I gained my Cert IV in Fitness in 2013 and loved working with children and adults to achieve their health and fitness goals. I also gained my Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care in 2018. Crossing paths with the Bluearth Approach allowed me to combine both of my passions and be lucky enough to enrich children’s lives with the joy of movement and mindfulness. Based in Albury, I deliver to many schools across the Albury/Wodonga region, as well as the smaller surrounding towns.
What do you love most about what you do?
Can I write everything? There are lots of things to love about my job, I am very lucky to be able to be involved in such a wonderful cause! But ultimately it would be watching the connections and relationships evolve over time with the people I work with. As well as watching those people become empowered and confident in their own potential. Spending my days outdoors in the sunshine is a pretty big bonus too!
